Remembering the threesome

[ mood = hungry music = Michael Bublé (feat. Nelly Furtado) - Quando Quando Quando]

Having caught up with former Lilydale Campus Chair JB last week for chocolate at Max Brenner in the city, (and being reminded of what it's like to laugh hysterically in public at something as amusing as a conversation on cum at an open-air cafe), I managed to catch up with the last decent Sec/Treas, AS. We took in lunch at Balsamic (Eastland) and caught up each other on our lives after SSU. AS invited me to his baptism, which I have to say I am quite thrilled about. I recall my high school years and the weekly Eucharist in St Mary's Chapel at school. Having been brought up Anglican, but having been busy these past eight years or so, I am out of practice.

Reminiscing about old times brought us to talk of *that* ssu council induction weekend where RS punched a tree, and Ocean was conceived. I *still* can't believe MK was sooo drunk that he finished the bottle of port, thinking it was red wine! LOL

After lunch, we watched Dukes of Hazzard at the local Hoyts.

The movie itself was very entertaining - much more than I had anticipated - but even more entertaining than the content of the movie itself was the blooper reel played over the credits. Aside from the cinema being packed with high school students (in Ringwood, no less!) on holiday, the facility is bloody huge! Atmosphere is always grand at Eastland; I'd put it up there with the Rivoli.

As we parted, and I went in for the manly shoulder pat, AS surprised me with a hug. Sentimenal fool that I am, I shed a tear in the car on the way back to Toorak, and the relative normality of life as a hermit.

But it wasn't to be...

September 11

[ mood = solemn music = Star Spangled Banner]

Although my United States patriotism extends only as far as reading accounts of soldier-families (losses, and non-losses), and reading my way through the United States Code, I couldn't help but feel that today should be marked in some way. Today, of course is the fourth anniversary of the 11 September 2001 bombing of the World Trade Centre in Manhattan, NY, USA.

If you Google.Earth your way over there, you'll see the site that once contained the centrepiece of the capitalist world's interest/arsenal/religion.

Anyway, having just watched a doco on conspiracy theories surrounding nine-eleven (has anyone else picked up that 911 is not only the US date of these events, but also the US emergency number? I'm surprised to have not heard anything about that conjunction), and having heard the rumours about Melbourne being a potential target during either the forthcoming Grand Prix, or the Commonwealth Games, it's not hard to get into the line of thinking that will inevitably take me to a place of wondering if it's all worth studying for.

What's the point, if we're all going to die tomorrow?

The moon and you...

[ mood = groggy music = Prodigy v Britney - Smack Me Baby, One More Time ]

Okay, at five days out from my twenty-seventh birthday, it's time to start Blogging again. I have neglected this space for far too long.

In cleaning my old room at my parents' place, I happened across my old (handwritten) journals, and I had thought to type some entries and add them here. So you may find additional entries appearing in the chronological past. Something to do, I guess.

I'm also working on my own webspace, which this blog may eventually be built into. At last I'll have a place to upload my phone cam journal to (nomenclature pending).

Going through my mind:
- Donna, emailling Josh updates from Gaza;
- Sarah tapping away at her Blackberry;
- a changed situation on the personal front, and the implications;
- the upcoming Canberra trip;
- protection of the Bookshop Board.

I think too much.
